Mavin Khoo will lead a workshop based on his research and development project 'Obsessing in Line'. This workshop will be based on choreographic research conducted at the University of Surrey and Roehampton University of Surrey and supported by the AHRB Centre for Cross-Cultural Music and Dance Performance. The workshop will address issues of choreographic process raised during the research and development period, will explore methods of working creatively with classical forms, and will examine intersections between classical forms like bharata natyam and ballet.
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 7 May 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the University of Surrey.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Dance experience, preferably in bharata natyam or ballet, is required. Participation is limited to 30 dancers. This event is funded by the AHRB Centre for Cross-Cultural Music and Dance Performance.
