The Organic Chemistry Tutorial package has been designed for GCSE chemistry, but can also be run in an AS/A2 mode. All of the text files are in rich text format (.rtf) and can be edited in applications such as MS Word or WordPad. Pictures can also be altered by the tutor, in this way the package can be tailored to individual courses and practicals.

GCSE mode features:

• naming, notation, bond types and laboratory equipment.
• virtual experiments illustrating the principals behind polymerisation, burning, fractional distillation of crude oil and solubility.
• the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alcohols and acids.

AS/A2 mode additionally features:

• isomers, orbitals, molecular shapes and pollution chemistry.
• substitution, addition, and free radical reaction mechanisms.
• a reaction mechanism planner with up to 4 stages.

There are also video clips (click here for an example; file size 196kB) for many of the sections that illustrate particular points. We are always pleased to provide other video clips if requested.
