You will never have heard recorders played like this! If you thought early music was dull then think again. The astonishing liveliness and versatility of these musicians has resulted in them being the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil, but that doesn’t mean that they have lost touch with musical heritage. Firmly grounded in a desire to bring the joys of early music to a modern-day audience, Red Priest come to the Festival with their unique approach to early music in a programme built around their reinterpretation of Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons and including other seasonal works by Purcell, Bach and Corelli. An evening of “completely wild and deeply imaginative” music-making not to be missed!
