“It takes a larger-than-life figure to begin to pay homage to Paul Robeson... Willard White has charisma and vocal power to spare…” The Times

Charismatic bass-baritone Sir Willard White takes on the mantle of the legendary Paul Robeson as he explores the repertoire and moving life story of this eminent singer and civil rights activist in a programme including Negro spirituals, British folk songs and classic early jazz songs. Sir Willard White is known for his imposing stage presence as well as his versatility and sensitivity as a performer, and he comes to the Festival prior to performing for a season at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
