The SPLASH Space
SPLASH contains a wide variety of flexible space to support student learning and development. Our facilities offer an ideal environment for individual and group study. SPLASH contains several distinctly different areas:
New Laptop Bar
|
Thanks to funding from the University of Surrey Annual Fund, SPLASH has a new laptop bar. This will provide extra space for students working on their own. There are power sockets available, and the whole of SPLASH is wi-fi enabled. |
The solo work area offers a quiet (not silent) space, primarily designed for individual work. The area is equipped with nine open access PCs and open desk space. The solo work area is generally accessible to all whenever SPLASH is open. |

The informal work area offers flexible, student-centred, non-quiet learning space suitable for individual or group study. The area is wi-fi enabled and is highly suitable for group work and discussion. The informal work area is generally accessible to all whenever SPLASH is open. |
The two work pods within the informal work area enable group-work and meetings, offering a degree of detachment from the other activity on the floor. The pods are generally available on a first-come first-served basis. |

The group work area offers table space for individual and/or group study activities, group-work sofa booths equipped with PCs and interactive Sympodia systems, desktop and walk-up PCs, and a print / copy station. |
SPLASH contains two bookable spaces suitable for individual or small group work. All are equipped with at least basic PC technology and whiteboards. The bookable Meeting Room is equipped with a PC connected to a plasma screen for small-group meetings and presentations. |

The training room is the principal home of workshops and other organised activity which is an important aspect of SPLASH's overall operation. Access to the training room will generally be restricted to those attending organised events. |
