The Centre for Advanced Surface, Particle and Interface Engineering (CASPIE) within the School of Engineering is led by Professor John F Watts. CASPIE embraces the use of advanced analytical methods for surfaces and interfaces within materials. Particle research includes theoretical and experimental studies associated with particulate and multiphase flow and the production and densification of ceramic and metallic powders. Metallurgists within CASPIE are world leaders in the theoretical and experimental development of metallic alloys and their performance in extreme environments.
