Information on Current MSRR Research Topics

The following research is currently on-going within the group :-

- Augmented Reality
The fusion of virtual reality graphics with real video images.

- Advanced Protection of Vulnerable Road Users

- Haptic feedback
We have developed our own 'phantom' device for use in robotic teleoperation applications.

- Semi-autonomous sweeping vehicles
In collaboration with Johnston Vehicles Ltd.

- Development of stereo robotics heads for immersive video feedback
An extension to our work in autonomous robot head development- closely allied with our AR work.

- Parts Feeding
The synthesis of parts feeding strategies based on a Catastrophe Theory model.

- Robotic Assembly
We have shown that a robot specifically designed and operated in force-control mode provides more general robotic assembly primitives than systems whose primary mode of operation is position control.

Older work :-

- Image Processing for Non-destructive Testing
- Sensors for Robotic Welding
- Assessing Quailty Assurance in Mammography
- Development of an open-architecture PUMA 560 robot controller
- Robot calibration and OLP
- Active vision for Robot Guidance
- Fluid power research
