The British Science FEstival 5-10th Sept 2009

The British Science Festival is one of Europe's largest science festivals, taking place each September. The Festival is in a different location in the UK each year, bringing you the latest in science, technology and engineering.

Our week long, jam-packed programme has events to suit everyone. Each year thousands of people join us for talks, plays, debates, hands-on activities and more. This year the Festival is hosted by the University of Surrey in Guildford from 5-10 September with events taking place across Surrey.

Discover the science of human attraction, find out the magic of computer science, learn why peoples' sleep deteriorates with age and see where creativity comes from.

The Festival will be joining in the national celebrations of Darwin200 marking 200 years since the birth of Charles Darwin by exploring his scientific ideas and the impacts they made. Come and explore how evolutionary theory can be used to examine culture, find out if Darwin has a future and whether his theories could apply to alien life!

2009 is also the International Year of Astronomy when you can also expect us to be reaching for the stars with an exciting and inspiring programme for families, adults and school children. Find out the difference between a star and the planet, take a trip to Mars and take a guided tour through the entire universe.
All this and much, much more.
