Currently I am working as Head of Human Resources & Legal Affairs for
the publisher of the newspaper Financial Times Deutschland in Germany. I am
also a fully fledged German lawyer, admitted to the bar in Hamburg with an
emphasis on employment law. In both positions I have to deal with cross border
employment law cases which involve both German and English labour law. The
LL.M. program will enable me to assess the arising English legal problems
more accurately thus minimizing legal risks for my international company and
clients. The University of Surrey ensures their students understand the real
world - it is not the ivory tower but the needs of business and commerce which
will be a core focus of the program. This is exactly what I need for my daily
work and my long term career plans. I am especially looking forward to having
enriching online discussions and lectures with Richard Benny, who is the Director
of the programme and whom I know personally as an experienced solicitor as
well as an outstanding academic scholar. I intend to write my dissertation
on a comparison of the German and English law of termination - something I
will be able to make use of as an inhouse counsel and lawyer. ![]()
