UNIVERSITY OF SURREY OFFERS BEST
LONG TERM PROSPECTS FOR GRADUATE JOBS
The University of Surrey provides students
with the best long-term prospect to find a job according to the
latest league tables for graduate unemployment by HESA (Higher Education
Statistics Agency).
Surrey has been ranked either first
or second in the national university league table for low unemployment
over the past four years. This impressive, consistent record cannot
be matched by any other university, even Oxford or Cambridge.
Over 94% of its graduates in 1999 found
employment or further training within six months of leaving, giving
Surrey the exceptionally low unemployment figure of 1.4% compared
to an average UK figure of 5.0%.
"We're so pleased with the consistency
of performance here", said Glynis Paxton, Deputy Head of Careers
at Surrey. "It's good news for students starting the university
to know that they'll be in demand by employers once they have finished
their courses."
She said that employers valued the
vocational degrees and the experience that Surrey students gained
from their professional placements which enables them to make a
contribution from day one.
"There is currently a very good supply
of jobs around so the employment outlook for this summer's graduates
looks buoyant" added Paxton.
