CoLab - collaborative learning space
CoLab is a small, entrepreneurial student organization which encourages and supports collaboration between students, the wider university community and business. It was set up by five students in March 2007 with an initial focus on sharing expertise in information and communication technologies – something students are more expert in than most university staff.
CoLab is also the home for SCEPTrE’s student networkers who help the University find out what other students think and do. Through the process of enquiry they develop the knowledge and insights that help the University do things that are more likely to be useful to students.
Students can participate as volunteers in all aspects of CoLab’s work. In making appointments to future paid internships, preference will be given to people who have demonstrated their commitment through voluntary participation in the CoLab enterprise.
Market research undertaken by SCEPTrE’s Student Networkers has demonstrated that there would be a good level of support for and participation in CoLab, so in 2007 we are going to pilot some of these services.
