SCEPTrE’s study visit programme is intended to help other institutions learn about Surrey’s approaches to professional training and Work Integrated Learning and help Surrey learn about practices in other institutions.
Visit by Team from Miyagi National College of Technology, Japan
On October 2nd/ 3rd SCEPTrE hosted a study visit by a team of seven from Miyagi National College of Technology. The delegation was on a fact finding mission, brokered by the WACE Board (World Association of Cooperative Education) and commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Education to learn from the best Work Integrated Learning practices in Sweden and in England.
Prior to the visit Surrey University completed a questionnaire containing nearly 80 questions that the visitors were seeking answers to.
On October 3rd the visitors spent an afternoon at KBR (part of the Haliburton Group) seeing a world class engineering graduate training programme. On returning to Japan the team presented the results of their study tour to a national workshop.
